• Buy the Gable if clear width is your constraint. It is the backyard greenhouse for a narrow lot, a side return, or a suburban plot where the setback leaves you eight and a half feet and no more.
• Buy it also if the view from the street matters — to you or to a neighborhood association. A pitched roof and straight walls read as a small building instead of a tunnel, and that has settled more than one planning conversation.
• Look at the Arc or Loft Series instead if you do have 10 ft of clear width. Both give you more floor for the money at every length, and the Arc carries the higher 75 mph wind rating.

• Frame: 1" × 1" hot-dip galvanized steel tubing. Galvanizing bonds a zinc layer to the steel that corrodes in place of the steel underneath, which is what lets a frame this light span this wide outdoors, year after year.
• Glazing: UV-protected twinwall polycarbonate, your choice of 4 mm or 6 mm. Twinwall diffuses light so your plants are not scorched by a hot spot, and the hollow channel holds heat that single-layer glass or film gives straight back.

Every length below is the real, measured length. Our lengths are metric conversions, so we publish them exactly — a 19.5 ft house is listed as 19.5 ft, never rounded up to 20.

8.3 ft wide in eight lengths — 6.5 ft (54 sq ft), 13 ft (108), 19.5 ft (162), 26 ft (216), 32.5 ft (270), 39 ft (324), 45.5 ft (378) and 52 ft (432 sq ft).

Plan the inside before you pick the length. At 8.3 ft wide the usual layout is one bench down a side with a comfortable working aisle beside it, or two narrow benches with a tighter walk between them. Length is what you then buy: 54 sq ft starts seedlings, 108 gives you a real potting station, 162 to 216 covers a household's vegetables with room to move, and the top of the range at 432 sq ft is a serious growing space on a lot that was never wide enough for one. Price per square foot falls as the house gets longer, so the extra length is the cheapest growing space on this page.

The Gable starts at $1,589 with curbside freight already included, and it is worth being straight about the trade: a narrow house costs more per square foot than a wide one, so if you have room for 10 ft, our 10 ft-wide walk-in greenhouse starts at $1,489 and gives you more floor. What you are paying for here is a house that fits where the wide ones cannot. Against the premium hobby lines built on a lighter alloy frame, which typically open near $2,400, the galvanized steel frame is still the reason this sits where it does.

Both thicknesses are the same UV-protected twinwall polycarbonate — twin-wall, if you have seen it spelled that way. Two sheets are bonded over a sealed hollow channel, and the air trapped in that channel is the insulation. That is why a polycarbonate greenhouse holds heat a single pane of glass gives straight back, and why the light arrives diffused instead of laying a hot stripe across your seedlings. Choosing between the two is a climate question, not a quality one.

• 4 mm — the right panel for mild and temperate zones and for spring-to-fall growing. It passes the most light of the two, and it is what most backyard growers buy.
• 6 mm — a deeper air channel and a stiffer panel. Take it if you want an insulated greenhouse you can run through a cold winter, if you plan to heat the space, or if your site takes real snow. The upgrade costs a few hundred dollars on a short house and more on a long one; panel area is what you are paying for.

The short version: if you intend to grow past the first hard frost, buy the 6 mm. If the house shuts down in November, 4 mm is the honest answer and the difference is better spent on the next length up.

• Foundation: level, well-drained ground is the whole requirement. A compacted gravel pad, a timber perimeter or a poured slab all work. Level matters more than material — a frame set out of square fights you on every panel.
• Anchoring: a wind rating describes a greenhouse that is anchored to the ground. Whatever base you build, tie the frame down into it before the first storm, and keep the zinc coating intact where you drill.
• Permits: many jurisdictions treat an unheated hobby greenhouse as an accessory structure and exempt it below a footprint threshold, but the threshold and the property-line setbacks are local. One call to your building department settles it, and the two numbers they will ask for — footprint and peak height — are both listed above.
• Assembly: it arrives as a kit with an illustrated manual. Plan on two people and ordinary hand tools, and pick a calm day: the panels are large and awkward for one person to hold in any wind.

Curbside LTL freight is included in the price for the lower 48 states. Alaska, Hawaii, US territories and PO boxes are not served — contact us for a freight quote outside the lower 48.

Curbside means the carrier brings the pallet to the end of your driveway and it is yours from there, so have a second person and a way to move it. Residential freight is normally delivered by appointment, so keep the phone number on your order current.

Inspect the shipment before you sign the delivery receipt. Note any damage on the receipt at the moment of delivery — that note is what makes a freight claim work, and a signature on a clean receipt is very hard to walk back afterwards.

We do not quote transit times. LTL is a third-party network, and a date we cannot control is not a date worth promising; you get tracking as soon as the shipment is booked.

• 3-year frame warranty on the galvanized steel structure.
• Damage or missing pieces: tell us and replacement parts are shipped. That is the manufacturer's stated remedy, and it is the reason the inspection line above is set in bold.
• Returns: unopened, in original condition, with the polycarbonate undamaged. Return freight is paid by the customer — a pallet this size costs real money to send back, which is the honest reason to settle the size before you order rather than order twice.
• Financing: available at checkout. The terms shown there are the ones you were actually approved for, which is why you will not find a payment figure printed anywhere on this page.
